Confusion

Some people asked so I should explain, I don't get Harry back. We couldn't find anywhere to live with a yard. So it's a bittersweet kind of victory. I went over to visit yesterday and he basically ignored me, and wouldn't stop jumping all over his new mum. It's been two weeks now and his memory is bloody short. I admit to getting slightly cut up about that. Bah. That's the male species for ya. Outta sight, outta mind!

he probably cried and cried for the first ten days tho! but really, it's better that he's happy and doesn't miss you too much, even tho it hurts you. poor shauny :(

Ouch :(

But he's a dog, not an elephant. And as clementine suggests, it's better than Harry be happy in his new home and with his new "mum" than otherwise.

You deserve a kudos for deciding to put his happiness (not to mention Sarah's) before yours. Consider this that kudos.

And, if you're not in a mood to care what happens to them, free feel to direct any naysayers to me :)

What does Harry normally do when a stranger visits? When his (then prospective) new mum visited, he jumped all over her. When you visited, he still jumped all over her. Sounds to me like he hasn't forgotten you at all, but is still so used to you being around that he didn't think anything of it. (Or perhaps Harry just thinks his stay in his new home is just a doggy holiday?)

But I'd be a bit cut up about being ignored, too. It's a pity we can't explain to dogs that they're going to new homes, but that we still love them to bits, and always will.

My suggestion? Go for visits with a handful of cooked hamburger. You'll learn a lot about doggy love that way.
